Strength training

STRENGTH TRAINING

Strength training has a number of benefits.
  • It helps you to lose weight
  • increase muscle strength
  • Helps in recovering from a multitude of injury and disease
No matter what your goals are, strength training is an important component of your exercise program and it is never too late to start.
Be sure to check with your doctor before you start strengthening training if you have any medical conditions, injuries or illnesses.
You should work all of your muscle groups each week, so that you avoid muscle imbalances, which could lead to injury.
Give yourself at least a day of rest to recover. As a beginner you may start with lower number of reps until you feel comfortable with the moves, build some strength, after that, you can add more reps.
You want to challenge yourself, not kill yourself. The first few weeks, focus on learning how to do each exercise rather than on how many reps and exercises you are doing.

How many reps you should do?
In my fitness videos I always mention how many reps to do. My goal is to be lean, fit and strong. That is why I do a lot of repetitions with bodyweight or light to moderate weights.
If your goal is:
  • To lose body fat, build muscle, muscle gain: do less repetitions and heavier weights
  • To get healthy lean look and muscular endurance: more repetitions and bodyweight or light to moderate weights
